Maureen Allwood, a clinical psychologist and professor of psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York, passed away on March 4, 2024, in Providence, Rhode Island. Maureen was a doctoral faculty member of CUNY’s Graduate Center and an adjunct Heilbrunn Department of Population and Family Health associate professor at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. Maureen was more recently a visiting scientist in psychiatry and human behavior at the Brown Psychiatry and Human Behavior in Providence, Rhode Island. Maureen joined the Research and Evaluation Center team at John Jay to collaborate on a project to evaluate the Bronx Osborne Gun Accountability and Prevention (BOGAP) program in New York City, supported by the National Institute of Justice to support the U.S. Department of Justice’s Community Violence Intervention and Prevention initiative (CVIPI). Staff members at the Research and Evaluation Center were honored to have known and worked with Maureen. She was talented, kind, and dedicated to the individuals and communities her research was designed to support.
