New York City Opportunity (NYCO) and the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) are partnering with NORC at the University of Chicago (NORC) and John Jay Research and Evaluation Center (JohnJayREC) to assess the implementation of violence interruption services, wraparound services, and technical assistance services coordinated by community-based organizations supported through the City’s “Crisis Management System” (CMS). Insights from the assessment will help City officials assess and understand the expansion of CMS initiatives across NYC by exploring current programming, identifying the resources needed to enhance program quality, and offering recommendations to shape future improvements. The project will provide a comprehensive snapshot of the work of CMS organizations, determine the essential ingredients of CMS programming, and demonstrate the value of this approach to community violence intervention.
